Coinmerce Super Handball League expands board with experienced handball executives
The Coinmerce Super Handball League is taking another step in its continued professionalisation by expanding its board. During the General Assembly, Klaas Toes and Diederik Stollman were appointed as new board members. In addition, Dries Boulet has joined the board as the successor to Jean Francois Hannosset.
Together with the current board members Tjark de Lange (Chairman) and Roel Golin, the renewed board forms a balanced representation of both the Dutch and Belgian handball communities.
With this reinforcement, the Coinmerce Super Handball League underlines its ambition to continue growing both sportingly and organisationally, and to further strengthen its position as a cross-border top competition between the Netherlands and Belgium.
Klaas Toes sees a role model function for Coinmerce SHL
Klaas Toes brings an impressive track record within handball. He is an entrepreneur and has been closely involved in the sport throughout his life. He was active as a player for 35 years, served as club chairman of DES 72 for 10 years, and was vice-chairman of the Dutch Handball Federation (NHV) for 12 years. In that role, he contributed to, among other things, the unification of the NHV, the development of boys’ handball, and the federation’s strategic policy plan.
The Coinmerce Super Handball League features the best teams from the Netherlands and Belgium. According to Toes, this also brings a clear role model function. His ambition is to make the most of that strength: increasing visibility for men’s handball, boosting engagement from fans and sponsors, and actively sharing successful initiatives between clubs. Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, the competition as a whole can become stronger.
Diederik Stollman aims for further sporting and commercial growth
With Diederik Stollman, the board welcomes an executive with 47 years of experience in handball as a player, coach, referee and administrator. Throughout his career, he has been affiliated with Sporting Pelt and has a close understanding of both the Belgian and Dutch handball landscapes.
His motivation to join the board of the Coinmerce Super Handball League is rooted in further professionalising the sport and growing the competition, both sportingly and commercially, from the perspective of the Belgian clubs.
According to Stollman, the Coinmerce Super Handball League is the right platform to further put the sport on the map. In recent years, significant work has been done behind the scenes to develop the competition. Now that progress must also become visible to sponsors, clubs, fans and supporters. Expanding the community around the league is an important objective in this regard.
Dries Boulet wants to use Coinmerce SHL as a lever for broader growth
Dries Boulet joins the board as the successor to Jean Francois Hannosset. In recent years, he has been closely involved in the development of the Coinmerce Super Handball League and now aims to actively contribute to the next phase of the competition.
According to Boulet, the Coinmerce Super Handball League has taken important steps in recent years on both sporting and organisational levels. His ambition is to continue this development and to position the competition even more strongly within the handball landscape of the Netherlands and Belgium. In doing so, he sees the league not only as an end goal, but also as a strategic instrument.
According to Boulet, the Coinmerce Super Handball League should serve as a lever to elevate not only the participating clubs, but handball in both countries as a whole. Greater visibility among the general public, a stronger shared identity, and further professionalisation are central to this vision. At the same time, he emphasises the importance of building from the ground up. Investing in growth and development at grassroots level should create a positive interaction, where a stronger foundation ultimately also benefits the top teams in the Coinmerce Super Handball League.
Through this reinforcing cycle between grassroots and elite sport, Boulet aims to contribute to a sustainable and structural strengthening of handball in both Belgium and the Netherlands.
With this expansion, the Coinmerce Super Handball League now has a board in which both Dutch and Belgian experience and perspectives are strongly represented. The shared ambition is clear: to further professionalise the competition, increase visibility, and build a strong and growing handball community in both countries.
